Hudson River Aerie

Irvington

On a spectacular property facing the Hudson River, we designed a modern addition that makes the most of a stunning view. A self-supporting sculptural stair has the river and Cuomo Bridge as its backdrop, and the rear exterior of the house is almost entirely made of glass.

The site’s topography, not to mention town-enforced height limits, forced us to consider every inch of space. Our client and her teenaged children often have friends and extended family over, so we created plenty of spaces for them to spend time together. There’s a theater for movie nights, a pool and oversized hot tub, and several bars and grill areas, as well as a large playroom, indoor basketball court, and cold plunge for our clients’ athletic teens. We also designed separate living quarters for her parents, who live with her for part of the year. To accommodate frequent overnight guests, one bedroom doubles as a bunk room that sleeps up to six people.
