Mediterranean-Style Retreat
Palm Beach
OUR CLIENT WAS LOOKING FOR A PEACEFUL OASIS inspired by recent travels to Morocco and fell in love with this Mediterranean Revival home, designed in 1928 by Marion Sims Wyeth, who was influential in bringing the style to Palm Beach. We sought to restore elements of the original home that had been altered over the years. Interior designer Sean Rush sourced details and materials — tiles, railings, fretwork, ceilings, and furnishings — from Morocco to be carefully integrated into the home, and a local artist painstakingly restored the wood ceilings to their original design.
Buildings of this vintage come with challenges, but it’s all part of the fun. It seemed that every wall we opened was a different material than we expected, and framing was difficult. Thanks to a great relationship with our general contractor and our local engineer, as well as a flexible client, the process went smoothly.
